Fleetwood Mac have just emerged from the studio. This new batch of recordings marks the band’s first step back in the studio for a full-length album since ‘Say You Will’ in 2003 and, according to guitarist Lindsey Buckingham and returning keyboardist Christine McVie, things couldn’t have gone better.

“We got in the studio not knowing what to expect, and the chemistry was just unbelievable,” Buckingham told Billboard.  “We got eight tracks very far along, like, 75 percent done. It just played out really organically in a way that seemed appropriate.”

“There’s a wide variety, starting from sort of blues-based songs to very commercial songs. It’s very, very exciting. We get chills when we hear them,” said McVie. “There’s an element, I guess, that hasn’t really existed so much in the past although it has been there in the fact Lindsey and I have been collaborating more.” Buckingham concurs, “We’ve been working very closely together, so there is a freshness.”

Though the record is not finished yet, they already have a lot to pick from in songs like ‘Carnival Begin,’ ‘Red Sun’ and ‘Too Far Gone.’ “We’re all very excited about it,” adds Buckingham who joked, “Knowing me, I’m going to be pushing for a double album.” The album is being recorded in part at the Village Recorder in Los Angeles, which is where the Mac recorded their classic two-LP set ‘Tusk’ back in 1979.

Recording will be put on hold as the band are preparing to hit the road this summer for their first tour with McVie back in the fold, but they are looking at a possible release date sometime in 2015. “Fleetwood Mac always take a long time to make a record,” adds McVie. “I thought I was going to get nervous coming in the studio, but it’s felt very easy and natural. I really missed playing with them and the chemistry of it all and started to really, really desire to start doing something again, and the only people I could think of that I would have any desire to do anything with would be them, Fleetwood Mac.”
