A new benefit album pays tribute to Ronnie James Dio with 13 interpretations of his music from Metallica, Motorhead, Scorpions, Anthrax and Judas Priest‘s Rob Halford, among others. ‘This Is Your Life’ concludes with the former Rainbow and Black Sabbath frontman’s own moving rendition of the title track, originally found on 1996′s ‘Angry Machines.

Produced by Dio’s longtime manager and wife Wendy, the album will be issued on April 1, 2014 via Rhino. Proceeds will go to the Stand Up and Shout Cancer Fund, created after the metal legend succumbed to stomach cancer in 2010.

Highlights include Metallica’s nine-minute medley of Rainbow-era Dio favorites, including ‘A Light in the Black,’ ‘Tarot Woman,’ ‘Stargazer’ and ‘Kill The King.’ The Scorpions, meanwhile, take on Rainbow’s ‘Temple of the King,’ and Motorhead is joined by Saxon’s Biff Byford for an update of ‘Starstruck.’ Halford sits in with long-time Dio collaborators Vinny Appice, Doug Aldrich, Jeff Pilson and Scott Warren for ‘The Man on the Silver Mountain.’ Glenn Hughes, of Deep Purple and Black Sabbath fame, offers a reinterpretation of ‘Catch the Rainbow’ with members of the final lineup of Dio’s solo band, including Craig Goldy and Rudy Sarzo.

Dio’s time in Black Sabbath is recognized by Anthrax (‘Neon Nights’) and Adrenaline Mob (‘The Mob Rules’), while his solo career is celebrated with versions of ‘Straight Through the Heart’ by Halestorm, ‘The Last in Line’ by Tenacious D, ‘Rainbow in the Dark’ by Slipknot’s Corey Taylor and ‘Holy Diver’ by Killswitch Engage.
